A draw pile is created from the remaining cards after each player is dealt a predetermined number of cards at the start of the game, usually seplay slots freeven. In order to form legitimate card combinations, players alternately draw from the draw or discard piles. Forming melds, which are either sets (three or four cards of the same rank) or runs (three or more consecutive cards of the same suit), is the fundamental strategy of go rummy.
